Natural Gas
1)
Natural Gas BBQ's run at a lower pressure than propane BBQ's. If you
converted your BBQ from propane to natural gas, this is might be the
cause. Properly converted BBQ's require a new set of valves specifically
manufactured for natural gas. This is due to the inner workings of a BBQ
valve.
2) If your Natural Gas line was recently installed, ensure that it was
installed correctly. Certain sizes of natural gas lines can only support a
certain number of BTU output.
3) Your BBQ may need servicing. Take it to your nearest service center.
Propane
This is a fairly common problem. Since
1996, due to new government regulations in the United States and Canada,
all new BBQ's are manufactured with a new fitting called QCC-1. The QCC-1
fitting is a female plastic 'nut' which is right hand thread and attaches
to a QCC-1 equipped propane cylinder.
The QCC-1 fitting has a safety feature on it that is commonly called the
"Lock out." The "Lock out" reduces gas flow down to approximately 10%. To
avoid this follow these simple steps when starting your BBQ:
1) Ensure BBQ burner valves are on the off position.
2) Turn the LP cylinder on.
3) Open the BBQ lid.
4) Turn the BBQ burner valves on.
5) Ignite the BBQ
The Lock-out occurs if you turn the LP cylinder on with the burner valves
in the on position rather than the off position.
